Concept: Solar installer, San Diego

A solar installer site read as one day of sun, with a full width arc at the foot of the hero that the sun rides from dawn to dusk as you scroll, filling the panel cells beneath it with the day's output.

A design concept, not a client site. The name and every detail of the business it was drawn for have been replaced.

The design decisions

  • Syne in heavy weights gives the headlines a wide, engineered look, paired with DM Sans for body text and interface labels.
  • The palette borrows from the panel itself: a near black cell color for the ground, a panel blue for the process band and cell grid, a single sun yellow accent with an orange for dusk, and a warm paper ground for reading sections.
  • The signature sun arc is a drawn band labeled only Dawn, Noon and Dusk whose disc, trace and cell fill track scroll progress, with a small copy of the arc beside the wordmark in the header and a static noon position under reduced motion.
  • The page moves from a split dark hero to a paper services list with a sticky heading, a panel blue process row labeled by time of day, an asymmetric dark work mosaic, and a sun yellow call band, with a pinned call bar on phones.
