Concept: Septic service, Newark
A dark septic service site led by a full width cross section of the whole system, house to leach field, where every buried part is a link to the service that looks after it.
A design concept, not a client site. The name and every detail of the business it was drawn for have been replaced.
The design decisions
- IBM Plex Serif sets the headline, section heads and service names and IBM Plex Sans the body and the diagram labels, so the page reads like an annotated engineering drawing.
- The palette is near black ink and a steel grey for alternating bands, a field green for the turf line and the call band, and safety orange kept for call buttons and the part being pointed at.
- The hero is the diagram: a drawn cross section with tank layers, baffles, distribution box and gravel bed, dashed leaders to each label, folding into a full width legend list on phones.
- Services run as a ruled two column index beside a heading column, with no cards or icons, followed by a strip of four square work panels with plain captions.
