Concept: Printing and design, Escondido
A print shop site that borrows from the press itself, with printer's crop marks and a registration target framing the photo and the dark statement band, and the whole product list set as huge condensed type.
A design concept, not a client site. The name and every detail of the business it was drawn for have been replaced.
The design decisions
- Big Shoulders in heavy condensed weights sets the product list, the headings and the statement band, with Public Sans for body copy and small tracked labels.
- The palette is white paper, a pale blue wash, a strong press blue for buttons and links, a deep navy for the statement band, and a single orange registration mark.
- The hero menu lists every product as a stacked run of oversized uppercase words, each on its own rule, so the page reads like a type specimen.
- How a job runs is set as a ruled spec sheet, a small tracked label on the left and one plain line on the right, under a heading that runs into a hairline.
