Concept: Landscape supply yard, Chula Vista
A landscape supply yard's site built as a catalog of bins: material swatches act as the navigation, and every path ends at the yard gate with posted hours and a phone number.
A design concept, not a client site. The name and every detail of the business it was drawn for have been replaced.
The design decisions
- Archivo at an expanded width and heavy weight sets headlines, tile labels and the hours board, against Lora for running copy, which gives a stenciled yard sign feel next to a bookish body.
- The palette is drawn from decomposed granite in three tones, a dark ink for the category bar and principles band, an agave green for the oversized display word, and a copper call button.
- The signature is a swatch wall of square material tiles with pale label plates like bin tags, repeated as the hero's right third and at the foot of category pages.
- The hours sit on a dark posted board with corner screws, a fixed bar of material categories runs under the header, and on phones a copper call bar pins to the bottom of the screen.
