Concept: HVAC, Chula Vista
A heating and cooling contractor site split down a hard diagonal into a hot red side and a cool blue side, with finished jobs pinned up like snapshots on a fridge door.
A design concept, not a client site. The name and every detail of the business it was drawn for have been replaced.
The design decisions
- Barlow Condensed in heavy weights sets the headlines, nav and phone numbers with a mechanical, industrial feel, while Source Serif 4 carries body copy so the page reads warmer than a typical trade site.
- The palette is flat color only on a warm paper ground: slate for the header rail, dark bands and type, a strong red for heating and every call button, a deep blue for cooling, and amber highlights used only on slate.
- Heating and air conditioning sit side by side as solid red and blue panels divided by a hard diagonal, followed by a narrower slate strip for ductwork and commercial work instead of more cards.
- The finished jobs wall shows each photo at its native ratio in a white snapshot border with a colored magnet, a hand set tilt and a small drop, and on phones the nav folds into a menu while a red call bar pins to the bottom.
