Concept: Heating and cooling, Newark

A heating and cooling site whose hero is cut down the middle, heating on a red half and cooling on a blue half, joined by a single seam that runs red into blue.

A design concept, not a client site. The name and every detail of the business it was drawn for have been replaced.

The design decisions

  • Literata, a contemporary serif with a lively italic, sets the headings and the Heating and Cooling labels, with Public Sans for the body and the links.
  • The palette is graphite for the hero and the footer, a brick red for everything heating and a steel blue for everything cooling, with a pale mist ground for the story and the questions.
  • The hero is two halves with one full height seam between them, red on top and blue below, and each half ends in its own band of service links.
  • The service menu repeats the split as two ruled columns, red rule for heating and blue for cooling, with air quality set as one full width row beneath.
