Concept: Handyman, Chula Vista
The page is the to do list stuck on the fridge: a notepad sheet held by a magnet lists household jobs in handwriting, and each one ticks and strikes through on its own as the visitor arrives.
A design concept, not a client site. The name and every detail of the business it was drawn for have been replaced.
The design decisions
- DM Serif Display sets the headlines, wordmark and the oversized phone number, Atkinson Hyperlegible handles body and form text, and the Kalam handwriting face appears only on list items and the textarea where visitors write their own list.
- Four colors each have one job: a warm notepad ground, dark ink for all text and photo borders, a honey yellow for the call button, magnet and call band, and a red used only for the checkmarks.
- The hero checklist draws each red tick with a stroke animation and then strikes the line through, using fixed size boxes so nothing reflows, and it renders already checked under reduced motion or without JavaScript.
- Photos sit square cornered with a two pixel ink border at their own aspect ratio, and the closing honey band pairs a huge phone number with a notepad card form that turns the visitor's list into a text message; mobile stacks headline, list and photo and pins a call bar.
