Concept: Fence contractor, Chula Vista
The site is about fence materials up close, wood boards on metal posts, built in hard alternating slabs of redwood and white with a drawn cutaway of how the post, rail and board join.
A design concept, not a client site. The name and every detail of the business it was drawn for have been replaced.
The design decisions
- Zilla Slab in heavy weights evokes lumber mill stamps for headings, labels and a ruled rectangle wordmark, paired with Work Sans for body text.
- The palette is white, a solid redwood used only in large blocks, a steel near black for text, the call button and footer, and a galvanized gray kept to rules and leader lines.
- The signature is an cutaway of a hollow steel post with a bracketed rail and boards cut back to reveal it, labeled POST, RAIL and BOARD in words only.
- The hero is a vertical split of a full height photo and a redwood block carrying the stamp, headline and steel call button; galleries use justified rows with tight gutters so every photo keeps its own ratio, the service towns are set huge between gray rules, and on mobile the split stacks with a pinned call bar.
