Concept: Coffee shop, San Diego
The whole page is seen through a walk up order window: an ink awning carries the sign, an ink frame with rounded lower corners forms the glass, and a counter ledge at the bottom holds the hours while the content slides past.
A design concept, not a client site. The name and every detail of the business it was drawn for have been replaced.
The design decisions
- Caprasimo, a round hand painted sign style display face, sets the headlines and the awning sign, with Instrument Sans for reading.
- A blush ground stands in for the glass and the room, heart red carries headlines, the ticker band and buttons, and a warm ink makes the frame, awning, ledge and footer.
- The hero photo sits at a slight tilt with a pale border like a print taped inside the window, beside a big left aligned headline and a small dashed order ticket holding hours and location.
- Sections alternate sides and slide in from the left or right as they pass the window, a red ticker of house syrups crosses the page, and on phones the photo moves above the headline and the sign drops its second word.
