Concept: Coffee shop, National City

The page is built as a row of small houses: a thin gable roof outline over three walls frames the key element of every section, so each section reads as its own room.

A design concept, not a client site. The name and every detail of the business it was drawn for have been replaced.

The design decisions

  • Sora sets the spaced wordmark, headings and labels like a plain house number, and Literata carries body copy and the italic line under the headline like a note left on a table.
  • A horchata cream ground alternates with a lighter paper tone to separate rooms, pistachio fills the photo frames and slots, and charcoal handles ink, lines and the footer, with a deep pistachio reserved for small labels so they pass contrast.
  • The house frame is a drawn roof drawn over plain walls, so the roof line matches the wall weight at any width, and it frames the hero photo, the paired photos, each drink and the storefront.
  • Layouts change room to room: a split hero, two houses at different heights, three drinks stepped in uneven columns, an unframed two column text menu, and on phones everything stacks under a pinned pistachio call bar.
