Concept: Coffee roaster, San Diego
A measured, precise coffee bar laid out as one long counter read left to right, with each station (espresso, sodas, pastries, beans, visit) hanging off a single hairline.
A design concept, not a client site. The name and every detail of the business it was drawn for have been replaced.
The design decisions
- High contrast Bodoni Moda carries every headline and station name, with Epilogue for body, labels and small caps navigation.
- A porcelain ground with near black ink, a pale mint counter band behind the station rail, and a fox orange accent used for the italic place name, the roast list and the visit line on ink.
- The signature is a counter rail under the hero: the five station names set in italic along one ink line with small tick marks, each linking down to its station, like a menu board on the front of a bar.
- On desktop each station starts one step further right than the last, so reading down the page walks along the bar, ending on an ink visit station; on phones the stations stack but keep the hairlines and names.
