Concept: Family cafe, Carlsbad
A family cafe page built around staying put: hours and a call button up front, then a chalkboard kids' corner and an illustrated shelf of games and books to borrow.
A design concept, not a client site. The name and every detail of the business it was drawn for have been replaced.
The design decisions
- Baloo 2 in heavy weights gives the name, headings and buttons round, friendly letterforms, paired with Lexend for easy reading text.
- The palette is a soft blush ground, a deep plum ink for type and the visit band, a hibiscus pink for call buttons and menu headings, and a palm green chalkboard.
- The kids' corner is a framed chalkboard section with a wood border, chalk dust texture and faint line doodles, and the signature is a drawn borrow shelf of books, a chess set, crayons, board games, a puzzle and dice with no lettering.
- The hero puts the name, hours and a pill call button in the left column with the photo flush to the right edge, and on phones a call button stays pinned to the screen.
